2009-10 Detroit Lions

Hoping to begin with a fresh start, new Head Coach Jim Schwartz was faced with the loss of DE Corey Smith along with three other past or present football players.  The men were lost at sea in bad weather.

With the Number One overall draft choice, the Detroit Lions picked Georgia QB Matthew Stafford who is in complete competition with Dante Culpepper for the starting job.

The team is currently 2-1 in the preseason with one game remaining.

The team announced in early September that Stafford will indeed be the starting quarterback.

2008-09 Detroit Lions

Looking to improve on their 2007 7-6 record, Coach Rod Marinelli and Team President/CEO Matt Millen were determined to upgrade their team through the draft.  On March 13th, the Lions released RB Kevin Jones (who signed with the Chicago  Bears) and Kalimba Edwards.  DT Shaun Rogers was traded to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for CB Leigh Bodden and a 3rd round 2008 Draft Pick.

The Lions completed the preseason undefeated but ended up losing every regular season game and going 0-13, marking the first time in NFL History any team had accomplished such a feat.
