2010 Detroit Lions
Jim Schwartz will begin the second season at the helm of the Detroit Lions and still faces an uphill battle. While the team improved by 2 games over the 2008 Lions squad, a 2-14 record is nothing to write home about. The team has earned the 2nd round pick they received in the upcoming 2010 NFL Draft but may be looking to trade down for more picks to fill out the roster instead of leaning on another high paying pick that may not pan out.
The team released DE Jared DeVries and allowed QB Coach Jeff Horton to leave. On January 22nd, the Lions hired Danny Crossman as the new Special Teams Coordinator.

2009 Detroit Lions
Hoping to begin with a fresh start, new Head Coach Jim Schwartz was faced with the loss of DE Corey Smith along with three other past or present football players. The men were lost at sea in bad weather.
With the Number One overall draft choice, the Detroit Lions picked Georgia QB Matthew Stafford who is in complete competition with Dante Culpepper for the starting job.
The team is currently 2-1 in the pre-season with one game remaining.
The team announced in early September that Stafford will indeed be the starting quarterback.
